We did this short game for a gamejam mostly during a weekend to learn how to make games for Mega Drive, it's our first title for this platform. After the gamejam we basically only kept adding some fixes, tweaks, extra polish.
We don't have plans to use it commercially or releasing it as a full game, but we're cleaning the code and improving stuff in order to use it for potential future commercial Mega Drive games we are considering.
So this is why we're adding stuff that later we can reuse in other games like a leaderboard, language selection and a custom text font.
What did you use for the sound in your game? I use the standard SGDK 2.0 sound stuff, so .wav files don't sound great and one of the music tracks we did but didn't include (can be downloaded separatedly) doesn't sound as expected. Do you use a different audio library or driver than the one included in SGDK? We're just starting with Mega Drive and have no idea.
I still use SGDK 1.9, with .wav files. It's really difficult for the sounds to get good, some get good the first time, but most of the time I spend a long time in Audacity editing until it gets good.
